Grand Traverse County Deputies Investigating Counterfeit $100 Bill

An attentive store clerk was able to deny a man’s efforts to use a counterfeit $100 bill.

The Grand Traverse Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 1 a.m. Wednesday at the Shell gas station at Chums Corner.

The man tried to buy a 99 cent drink with a fake $100 bill.

Not only is it in pretty bad shape, but the front of the bill says it is “not legal tender” and the back of the bill identifies it as play money.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.
