CMU College of Medicine Professor Discusses Vaping Health Concerns
Doctors and health professionals continue to raise concerns over vaping.
9&10 News spoke to Dr. Harold Bell at Central Michigan University’s College of Medicine on Wednesday.
He says doctors have recently seen a rise in cases of inflammatory lung disease among people who reported using e-cigarettes.
Dr. Bell says it’s the uncertainty surrounding the effects of vaping that has lawmakers and health leaders responding the way they are.
‘When you see something sort of increasing at an exponential manner, you can’t really estimate where it’s going to plateau. So I think the reaction of lawmakers and legislators is reasonable because we’re not sure whether this has peaked, whether it’s a transient thing,” said Dr. Bell.
Doctor Bell says research now needs to determine what in the vaping products could be causing these serious lung problems.
