Charlevoix Municipal Airport Temporarily Closed After Plane’s Hard Landing

Charlevoix Municipal Airport is temporarily closed after a plane had to make a rough landing on Friday.

City Manager Mark Heydlauff said a Fresh Air Aviation plane coming in from Beaver Island made the hard landing.

State police says it happened around 4 p.m. and that nine people were on board.

Heydlauff says no one suffered serious injuries.

The airport is currently closed as state police wrap up their investigation.

Both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been contacted.

MSP says it appears there was a problem with the plane’s landing gear when it touched down.

The agencies will also be reviewing the landing.

Heydlauff says the airport is working to reopen later Friday night.
