Salvage Company Near Clare Facing Citations After Death of Volunteer Firefighter

We have an update on a Clare city volunteer firefighter who died while working on a tire which exploded.

The accident happened back in February and took the life of Ethan Gage.

He was not working as a firefighter when he died.

The accident happened here at Fair Salvage Company near Clare.

The Isabella County Sheriff says Gage was using a tire-changing machine when a tire exploded.

A Michigan OSHA investigation found a total of six violations by Fair Salvage.

They include not providing proper training, not providing proper safety equipment and not reporting the death to OSHA within 8 hours.

OSHA documents also show Fair Salvage was fined $38,000.
