Leelanau County Nonprofit Offers Rare Trip Inside the Mackinac Bridge
You’ve likely driven across the Mackinac Bridge, but it’s a rare treat to go inside the bridge for a tour and get a view from the top.
One lucky winner of an online auction will get that opportunity.
The auction is a fundraiser that benefits Leelanau Christian Neighbors, which says it is one of only 25 charities chosen for the prize—out of 450 groups that applied.
Executive Director Mary Stanton says, “The money will all go back into the community by helping our members with our food pantry, baby pantry, we have a financial assistance as well and we do Blessings in a Backpack. So we need lots of money to do what we do.”
That auction is live, and so far the bidding is over $500. You can bid until September 29. For more information, click here.
Meanwhile, construction is underway next door at the new Samaritan’s Closet Resale Shop. That effort has its own capital campaign, and Stanton says they hope to open by the end of the year.
