First Responders Receive Recognition and Relaxation to Mark September 11

First responders are getting some special recognition and relaxation from a local salt spa.

In conjunction with the Sept. 11 commemoration, the Urban Oasis Salt Spa in the Kids Creek Marketplace near Traverse City is offering a free salt bath treatment for all first responders.

The owners say it’s a way to give back to those responders for their hard work, dedication and bravery.

They say the salt room is a good way to ease their stress, anxiety, and fatigue, while also helping with upper respiratory conditions common to many firefighters.

Carol Saxton also says one their receptionists lost her brother.

“His name is Robert E. Parks, 47 years old, husband with two teenage daughters and a son,” Saxton says. “So we honored her and we wanted to show our support for our local first responders.”

Urban Oasis says first responders can come in for free anytime through this Saturday.
