Around 100 Cyclists Participate in First White Pine Ride
“It’s really an event to celebrate this amazing resource we have right here in Cadillac.”
Around 100 people started their Saturday morning with a nice, long bike ride.
The Cadillac Rotary Club hosted the first-ever White Pine Ride.
It welcomed people of all ages and skill levels to take part in a 12, 24, 58 or 83 mile trip.
The farthest is to Big Rapids and back.
Organizers tell us they want to raise money, so they can finish paving the White Pine Trail.
There’s a 29-mile stretch from Big Rapids to Cedar Springs that’s unpaved.
Plus, organizers just want to encourage more people to take advantage of the trail.
“It’s not a race, it’s a ride, it’s a tour, just a celebration. A lot of people come to Cadillac and they’re like, where is the White Pine Trail? Because you don’t see it right here downtown,” said ride president, Mark Lagerway.
The ride raised nearly $11,000.
