Hurricane Dorian’s Death Toll Rises; Storm Pushes Towards Georgia, The Carolinas

The death toll in the Bahamas has more than doubled in less than one day in the wake of hurricane Dorian.

It’s now up to 20 people.

As the storm pushes towards Georgia and the Carolinas, it is gaining strength—now back to being a category three hurricane.

As Dorian continues north alongside Florida, it is becoming less of a threat to certain parts of the state.

Florida’s governor has lifted some of the state’s evacuation orders.

But the main concern is shifting to Georgia and the Carolinas.

North Carolina’s governor is initiating new evacuation orders.

And President Trump has promised assets to help with the searches at the request of the Bahamian prime minister.

The U.S. Coast Guard is working to assist the Bahamas with wide-scale search and evacuation efforts.
