Chippewa County Investigators Find Human Remains; Suspect Charged

A man is facing charges after the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office say they found human remains in Kincheloe Township.

Sean McInnis is charged with torture, assaulting a pregnant woman causing stillbirth, three counts of criminal sexual conduct, three counts of first-degree child abuse and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Details are still limited, but we know the sheriff’s office along with personnel from the MSP Special Investigations Unit human remains analyst and a doctor from the Northern Michigan University Forensic Anthropology Unit conducted a search for human remains at an address on Erin Place.

The sheriff’s office says they did find human remains, along with additional items of interest.

McInnis was arrested Wednesday night after the search.

On Wednesday, the undersheriff told us the investigation centered on the death of an infant.

It is unclear if the remains found are related.

According to court documents, the incidents started back in 2014 and were committed against a pregnant woman, a minor and another unidentified victim.

McInnis is being held without bond at the Chippewa County Jail.
