Building and Construction Group To Pay First Responders Mackinac Bridge Toll on Sept. 11

We are one week away from observing one of the worst days in our nation’s history, Sept.11.

This has inspired one group in Michigan to give back.

The Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council will be paying the tolls for first responders crossing the Mackinac Bridge on Sept. 11.

The group’s president says first responders are always the first to head into situations like the September 11 attacks and they want to thank them for their service.

“The men and women of the building trades not only do we build Michigan but we live here we work here and to recognize somebody that does good,” said Steve Claywell of the Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council.

“This was a great opportunity and we just weren’t going to pass it up.”

The Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council is made up of roughly 20 trade unions from across the state.
