Decrease in Number of Tickets and Arrests During CMU Welcome Week

Central Michigan University is back in session.

Mount Pleasant is once again filled with thousands of students.

Welcome week kicked off last week and the Mount Pleasant Police Department says the number of arrests and tickets were down.

From Thursday to Sunday, the police department responded to 246 calls and wrote 40 citations.

They say since implementing new tactics in 2014, they have continued to see better behavior.

“CMU officers as well as Mount Pleasant City officers go door to door, welcoming students, letting them know what we expect for the year,” said Officer Autume Balcom with the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

The Mount Pleasant Police Department reminds students to be respectful neighbors and make good choices.
