Harvey Weinstein Asks To Move Trial
Harvey Weinstein, the former movie mogul accused of sexual assault, is asking to move his criminal trial out of New York City.
His defense team says excessive media coverage would make it impossible for Weinstein to get a fair trial in New York County.
Weinstein’s lawyers are asking the trial be moved to Albany County in upstate New York or Suffolk County in Long Island.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has not yet filed a response to the motion.
Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to all charges, including predatory sexual assault and first degree rape.
His trial is expected to start Sept.9.
