Woman Receives Probation, 2 Weeks in Jail for Bear Lake Crash That Killed Construction Worker

A woman has been sentenced for a deadly construction site crash that happened in Manistee County back in 2018.

The driver, Charlene Myers, has just been sentenced to 14 days in jail, 180 days on house arrest and two years of probation.

Myers is accused of hitting and killing Andre Alvesteffer and injuring another worker.

She has now been sentenced to spend 14 days in jail. After serving her jail sentence, Myers will spend 180 days on house arrest with a GPS tether, and two years on probation.

The crash happened last September along U.S. 31 in Bear Lake in Manistee County.

Deputies say Charlene Myers of Bear Lake crossed the center line, hitting and killing Alvesteffer.

Myers was charged with two moving violations in the crash.

Both are misdemeanors.
