Grand Traverse Co. Commissioners Vote to Support Line 5 Pipeline Tunnel
Grand Traverse County leaders say the county will be supporting Line 5 pipeline tunnel, but not without dozens of residents voicing their opinions on it.
Wednesday’s meeting included more than two hours of public comment from more than 50 speakers, with almost all them speaking against a proposed county resolution to support a tunnel in the Straits.
Several commissioners voiced their support of a tunnel as the safest alternative to the existing Line 5.
While others say the safety concerns are reason enough to shut down the pipeline completely.
After more than three hours of discussion, commissioners voted 4-3 in support of the resolution.
