Gov. Whitmer Creates Task Force to Tackle Michigan’s Opioid Epidemic

Governor Gretchen Whitmer is creating a task force that will focus on tackling Michigan’s opioid epidemic.

Her executive order forms an advisory group that includes leaders from across state government.

She hopes it will bring the state closer to finally ending the prescription drug epidemic.

The state’s chief medical executive, Dr. Joneigh Khaldun, will be heading up the task force.

They’ll focus on increasing access, minimizing harm, and targeting specific populations like pregnant women and former inmates.
