Chippewa County Sheriff Still Recovering in I.C.U

An Upper Peninsula sheriff is slowly recovering after returning to the hospital last week.

The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Office says Sheriff Mike Bitnar is making small improvements.

They hope these signs point to a full recovery.

According to Bitnar’s family, he will likely be in the intensive care unit for another five days.

A car crash sent him to the hospital on August 10.

Photos of the vehicle show severe damage to the driver’s side.

Bitnar was discharged August 14th in the morning but was rushed back to the emergency room later that day due to severe abdominal pain.

The sheriff’s office says the community’s support for Bitnar has been overwhelming.

They ask for it to please continue.
