Reed City Area District Library’s Machine Lets People View Documents from 1800s

The Reed City Area District Library has a time machine of sorts, giving you a view back more than 100 years through history.

It’s called the Scan Pro 2000.

The machine can view documents dating back to the 1800s that are stored on micro film. People can even print out pages for a small fee.

The library says the machine helps fill a need within the community.

“We have people coming into the library on a frequent basis asking for birth and death records genealogy records and so we are happy to provide it to the community now were they didn’t have access to it on a full time basis before,” said Tom Burnoski, the Reed City Area District Library director.

If you are interested in learning how to use the machine, the library will be holding a demonstration Monday August 26 at 12 p.m.
