The Riverside Inn Reopens After Fire

“Relief and a lot of gratitude. We’ve had a lot of support from the community,” said Kate Vilter, owner of Riverside Inn.

Leland’s Riverside Inn is reopening their doors Monday after a fire forced them to close down 10 months ago.

A fire caused by a linen bag destroyed the kitchen and left the inn filled with smoke damage and soot.

They sat closed through the usually busy summer season because of it.

It took months for them to gut the kitchen and other areas of the inn.

Monday night the Riverside Inn reopens to host an event to thank all of the donors who helped them rebuild.

Vilter says it’s been a struggle but they’re grateful the day is finally here.

“Back with my family. My staff, they’re my best friends, they’re my family and so being back with them is great. Also this is a really big part of our community so it’ll be nice to have our doors open so we can see everyone and welcome them back into the inn,” said Vilter.

Tuesday, the Riverside Inn will re-open to everyone.
