Walk for Wishes Team Participates in Cadillac; Raises 5th Highest Amount for Make-A-Wish Foundation
A group right here in Northern Michigan put on their own Walk for Wishes Saturday.
Saturday was the 20th annual Walk for Wishes in California.
It’s something near and dear to one local family’s heart, as their daughter-in-law is a cancer survivor.
Since they couldn’t walk in California more than a dozen people joined team Dream Builders and walked in Cadillac.
“Great turnout and we’re ready to go with you guys Kel, we appreciate the opportunity you let us do this at the same time.”
Team Dream Builders walked in Cadillac and California, but they both had the same goal.
“They are very passionate about giving back to others and I have been a coach and am passionate about giving back to others and they invited me to be a part of their team,” Tony Diola said.
Tony Diola says he’s great friends with Lauren’s in-laws and wants to help anyway he can.
“The idea that we have someone on our team in our darkest hour received one of these wishes that was lifechanging; it’s great to give back to others and I think that’s a calling we all should have,” he said.
The teams Facetimed before the walk began in California. And Lauren and Justin’s son Carter raised the second highest for individuals. Lauren received her wish while she was in remission years ago, an experience she’ll remember forever.
Now, their family wants as many children as possible to have that same chance.
“Justin felt because that she was granted a wish, he wanted to be able to give back, so that’s been his goal ever since they got out to California,” Denise Jacobs, Justin’s mother said.
Team Dream Builders raised the fifth highest amount of money for the make a wish foundation at $8,075.
