Local Farmer Donates 4K Pounds of Corn to Area Food Pantries

A local farmer donated 4,000 pounds of corn to area food pantries.

Food Rescue of Northwest Michigan along with The Northwest Food Coalition distributed most of the corn to more than 40 food pantries already.

Benzie Area Christian Neighbors received some of the corn.

They say it’s always a plus when they can offer families fresh produce.

“Fresh fruits and vegetables, those are expensive in the stores and is a real treat whenever we’re able to offer such a variety especially this time of year with all the great fresh produce that’s available in our area,” said Director of Operations for BACN, Michelle Northrup.

The Northwest Food Coalition served nearly 500,000 people last year.
