6 Officers Shot in Philadelphia, Suspected Shooter in Custody

Philadelphia police say they now have a suspect in custody after a gunman opened fire, shooting six officers.

Just before 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, Philadelphia police had a warrant to search a home for drugs.

When police got to the home the owner began firing at police, shooting six officers.

Three other officers were injured trying to avoid getting shot.

Police say two officers, as well as three innocent people, were stranded in the house with the shooter. But SWAT teams were able to move in quickly and get everyone out safely.

The shooter remained barricaded in the home until the early hours of the morning, before finally surrendering to police.

All of the officers shot have been treated and released from local hospitals.
