West Shore Community College’s Request for On-Campus Deputy Denied

The Mason County Board of Commissioners denied a college an on-campus deputy.

West Shore Community College was requesting a dedicated sheriff’s deputy to be there for the school year.

The school would pay for the deputy during the school months, then the deputy would return to the normal force during the summer.

The dedicated deputy would have meant drastically decreased response time and would have brought emergency training to the school.

Sheriff Kim Cole said not much explanation was given by the board.
