Locally made and locally sold, this not-so-hidden Northern Michigan gem has people from all over the country lining up for their one-of-a-kind seasonings.

The Alden’s Millhouse has been around for nearly 45 years. Owner Colleen Richmond has been carrying on this family tradition at their current location in downtown Alden for 35 years now and is making a big name for them and their spices.

Their Miracle Blend is one of their custom blends that is making big waves on the Torch Lake shoreline in Alden and all across the country. Chef Geno was Colleen’s father who created these high quality spices and began selling them to friends and family before they took off as a business. With only the freshest ingredients including their peppers from the West Indies and their garlic from California, they have something for everyone to enjoy.

Colleen said, “How unique my dad was in creating his blends and ornate his mind thought to create these. You can’t just go buy this anywhere and the thought process and the quality that went into everything. He did has really put us where we belong which is the top of the spices.”

As their business grew, so did their inventory and that means everything from kitchen gadgets to local gifts, and of course their amazing spices.
