Houghton Lake MSP Post Welcomes New Commander

There is a new commander of the Michigan State Police post in Houghton Lake.

F/Lt. Travis House was just named the new post commander.

He takes over for F/Lt. Josh Lator who was recently named the commander of the Mount Pleasant post.

Lt. House most recently served as the public information officer for the state police in northern Michigan.

He says he’s looking forward to a new role in leading troopers across several counties.

“I’m just happy that I’m in a position where I can make an impact on the job of the trooper to make sure that they have everything they need to get out there and have those contacts with the public,” said House.

Lieutenant House has been with the state police since 1998.

He’s a graduate of Northwestern Michigan College and Mesick High School.
