Charlevoix Law Enforcement Report Rise in Water Emergencies

Police in Charlevoix County say they’re seeing more emergencies out on the water.

The sheriff’s office says they’ve had 13 situations where lives were in danger on the water since May.

Since then police in Charlevoix County have seen: two drownings, eight water rescues and three sinking boats.

The reasons the sheriff says there have been more water emergencies this summer?

People not wearing life jackets, not knowing where they are going, and not knowing how to properly drive a boat.
