Benzie Co. Nonprofit Needs Helping Reaching Summer Match Goal

A Northern Michigan nonprofit is wrapping up their 10th annual fundraiser this summer, but they are still looking for the community’s help.

The Benzie Area Christian Neighbors in Benzonia helps provide members of the community with food, clothing and other necessities.

Their Summer Match fundraiser is going on now through the end of August.

Their goal is to raise $50,000.

Director of Development Kelly Ottinger says that will then be matched dollar for dollar by the John L. Mulvaney Foundation.

“The working families here can still struggle because of the cost of living, and the lower seasonal jobs and the wages that go with that,” she says. “This has a big impact on our ability to help our working families be able to stay here year round.”

Right now they’re just more than 80% of the way to their goal!
