Sentencing Set for William Strampel, MSU Overseer of Larry Nassar

A former Michigan State University Dean who had oversight of disgraced former sports doctor Larry Nassar is set to be sentenced Wednesday.

William Strampel will go back before a judge nearly two months after he was convicted of neglect of duty and misconduct in office.

Strampel, former dean of MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, was the first person charged after Michigan’s Attorney General launched an investigation in 2017 into how MSU handled sexual abuse complaints about Nassar.

He could spend up to five years in prison.
