Gov. Whitmer Talks Auto Industry Future at CAR Conference

Governor Gretchen Whitmer was in Northern Michigan Wednesday talking about the future of the state’s auto industry.

She spoke to those attending the Center for Automotive Research Conference at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa.

Governor Whitmer said the auto industry remains strong in the state and highlighted recent investments from the big ten and changes coming to autonomous vehicles.

She also spoke about challenges still facing the auto industry including roads, infrastructure and closing the skills gap.

She says addressing those issues are critical for the future of auto manufacturing.

“It is all related and it all goes back to the ability to tell the world Michigan is the place where we’re doing cutting-edge mobility, and you should invest here and grow your business and you should grow and make your life here,” said Whitmer.
