Former MSU Dean Sentenced to Prison

A former Michigan State University dean who oversaw disgraced former sports doctor Larry Nassar sentenced to one year behind bars.

A judge sentenced William Strampel Wednesday morning to one year in prison.

Strampel, former dean of MSU’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, was the first person charged after Michigan’s attorney general launched an investigation in 2017 into how MSU handled sexual abuse complaints about Nassar.

He was convicted two months ago of neglect of duty and misconduct in office.
