Author, Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison Passes Away

Author, educator and Nobel Prize winner Toni Morrison has died at the age of 88.

Morrison’s publisher announced she died Monday night in a New York hospital from an unknown illness.

Morrison had a decorated career that spanned six decades.

In 1993 she was the first African American woman to win a Nobel Prize.

Some of her most famous novels include “Beloved,” “Sound of Solomon,” and “The Bluest Eyes”

In 2012, Morrison was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Obama, the highest civilian honor in the United States.
