New Lunch Program Aimed at Preventing Bullying in Schools

A new lunch program aimed at preventing bullying is coming to Cadillac Area Public Schools this year.

Alex’s Friends, a program created in memory of Alex Harrison was started to make sure that every student has a lunch, even if their account is delinquent.

The Friends for Students of Lake City Schools started this in their district thanks to a donation from the Alex Harrison Memorial Foundation.

Now, they’re hoping to see the same success in Cadillac.

“Through donations we paid $784 to the Lake City schools last year and that will eliminate school lunchroom shaming, bullying, which is the main goal,” said Kristine Keller, the founder of Friends for Students of Lake City Schools.
