Man Dead After Truck Catches Fire in Oceana County

A man died Sunday morning when his pickup truck caught on fire in Oceana County.

The sheriff’s office tells 9&10 News the incident happened on South Water Rd., west of West Clay Road in Grant Township.

Deputies say it happened just after 7 a.m.

Emergency responders say the truck went off the road, hit a tree and caught on fire.

They say the man inside was unable to escape.

Someone driving by attempted to rescue the man but was unable to do so because of the fire.

Deputies believe speed likely played a role in crash.

The sheriff’s office says the driver’s name will be released once it has been medically confirmed.
