Washington to Washington Kids Camp Takes on Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes

An organization is bringing people together to help give inner city kids from Detroit, Washington D.C. and New Orleans a camping trip of a lifetime. The 10th Annual Washington to Washington camping trip is taking 55 kids out of city life into the northern Michigan great outdoors.

The group is starting in Lake City in Missaukee County with an overnight camping adventure and then making their way north to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Leelanau County. The co-founder, Davy Rothbart says it’s a way to help transform the kids’ lives and let them experience the true beauty of northern Michigan firsthand. The camping trip will go all weekend in northern Michigan with the group wrapping up Sunday.
