Angels of Action is nonprofit in Mecosta County determined to stop child hunger. During the school year, the organization fills student’s backpacks with groceries to send home over the weekend, but they need to raise the money in order to do that.
D Bar D Ranch in Chase is once again hosting the 2019 Saddle Up For Hunger Ride Saturday, August 3rd. A one day event to raise money for Angels of Action.
Owner of D Bar D Ranch, Don Beach, said, “We get an opportunity to enjoy our life here at the ranch every day and, to give back to the community a little bit it’s a good thing.”
They’re raising money to make sure no child goes hungry during the school year.
Estelle Molitor from Angels of Action said, “It’s a way to kind of raise awareness for insecure children in a way that’s not necessarily hard on the heart.”
All you need to bring is a horse and your wallet said Beach. “The horse industry is a pretty tight group and they really get generous at times and do things that make a difference.”
This year riders can enjoy a taco bar, a silent auction, and a poker tournament.
Molitor said, “People can start with a poker hand and they get cards throughout their ride and at the end of the day, whoever has the best poker hand will win.”
A way to give back while doing something you love.
“They’re going to have fun, we’re going to ask them to get in their wallet a bit,” said Beach. It’s just a fun weekend….come out and enjoy your horse and help out the community.”
