China Promises to Retaliate if U.S. Imposes More Tariffs

China’s government is threatening to take what it calls “necessary counter-measures” if the U.S. goes ahead with President Trump’s latest planned tariff hike.

The president announced yesterday that he plans to slap a new 10% tariff on the remaining $300 billion of merchandise coming into the U.S. from China.

That’s on top of an already tough series of tariffs China has been hit with by the U.S.

It’s not clear what China’s threatened counter-measures would be.

President Trump says the new round of tariffs are set to begin September 1.
