State Board of Canvassers Approve Language for Rep. Inman Recall Petition

The step towards recalling Representative Larry Inman moves forward as the state board of canvassers approved the language for a recall petition.

Thursday morning the board met and agreed the language on the petition was factual and clear and can be spread around for signatures.

After a short appellate period, petitioners will have 60 days to record 12,201 signatures from Grand Traverse County voters to green light a recap election.

That number is 25% of the voter turnout in 2018.

Inman’s attorney argues any sort of recall petition will hinder his chance to a fair trial for his three federal charges of lying to the FBI, attempted extortion and bribery.

Inman is scheduled to be in federal court on August 9, where his team will push to have the charges dropped.
