Isabella Co. Sheriff’s Office: MSP Bomb Squad Called in During Plane Crash Investigation

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Office says a plane crash investigation lead to an explosive scare when investigators were checking out the plane.

The crash happened on Saturday on Littlefield Lake in Gilmore Township.

The sheriff’s office says the FAA and NTSB found a parachute for the plane.

And it’s triggered by an explosive propulsion device.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation showed that device was partially activated and created safety concerns for the investigators.

It was so dangerous that a MSP bomb had to be called in and detonate it.

The FAA and NTSB are still investigating the cause of the crash.

The pilot has since been released from the hospital.

The passenger, Patrick Jarman from Deerfield Township who was airlifted to Grand Rapids, is recovering and expected to be released from the hospital soon.
