Petoskey Dealership and Deputies Team Up to Teach Car Seat Safety

A properly installed car seat can save a child’s life.

This makes installing it the right way one of the most important things a parent can do.

The Dave Kring dealership in Petoskey offered families the chance to learn how to properly set up it on Saturday.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office was on hand to teach parents all about the different types of car seats and how to put them in.

One deputy says a common error is when the seat or the harness is too loose.

The seat should not be able to move more than an inch from side to side.

It’s also important you choose a seat which is best suited for your car.

“Make sure that it’s installed correctly, make sure your children are using the seat and make sure that they’re harnessed in. Make sure that they’re using a seat that’s appropriate for their age and their height and weight” said Deputy Cole Brady of the Emmet co. Sheriff’s Office.

If you have any questions about how to put in your child’s car seat the right way, you can call your local law enforcement.
