Lawsuit Moving Forward Against Two Kalkaska MSP Employees For Violation of Rights

A Northern Michigan man’s lawsuit is moving forward after he was wrongfully convicted and spent 16 years in prison.

He’s now accusing two people of violating his rights.

Jamie Peterson was convicted of the rape and murder of Geraldine Montgomery in Kalkaska County in 1996.

He was released from prison in 2014 after DNA evidence showed he did not attack Montgomery.

Peterson is now filing a lawsuit against Greg Somers and Mark Uribe.

Both of them worked for state police and had key roles in Peterson’s interrogation.

Peterson previously sued the village of Kalkaska and a police officer.

It was settled last year for $525,000.
