The gold, silver, and bronze medals for the 2020 summer games in Tokyo are green, too!

The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic games revealed the medals on twitter, captioning the video,

“The moment you have all been waiting for, your #tokyo2020 Olympic medals!

RT for good luck!

The committee sourced small electronic devices from all over Japan to create 5,000 medals out of recycled electronics.

The gold, silver and bronze were all extracted from 80,000 tons of recycled materials.

The games are slated to kickoff next summer.

A cell phone’s shelf life is about 2 years for the average user and e-waste equals 70% of overall toxic waste.

So do not throw them away!

There are many ways to recycle or donate the devices.
