Ironman Traverse City Charity Challenge: Munson Manor Hospitality House

The Ironman Traverse City 70.3 is bringing people and charities around Northern Michigan together to celebrate health and community. The Munson Manor Hospitality House is one of five organizations we will introduce you to on “the four” as part of the Charity Challenge that Traverse City Tourism is hosting.

The Munson Manor Hospitality House serves families that are seeking treatment or have loved ones seeking treatment at Munson Medical Center. They are a home away from home and offer comfort and support during some of people’s most challenging times.

This is why Justin Mortier, wanted to compete on their behalf for the upcoming Ironman. His son, Mac was born unresponsive. The doctors and medical professionals at Munson were able to revive him and sent them down to the Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.

The Mortier family stayed at a Ronald McDonald house. “Just having a place to recharge your batteries after some really long tough days was really big and the families that we met and volunteered to cook meals. It was over Christmas so it was really tough.” After the holidays, Justin and his family were told amazing news— it was time for Mac to come home.

Now that their son is happy and healthy, they knew they wanted to give back to the organization that helped them in their darkest times.
