Fifth Annual Big Manistee River Clean Up Brings in More Than 200 Pounds of Trash

Volunteers scowering the Manistee River for trash came away with more than 200 pounds of trash.

Anglers, paddlers and boaters took part in this past Saturday’s 5th Annual Big Manistee River Clean Up.

The cleanup crews found all the trash near the wild and scenic section of the Manistee River.

Some of their haul included food and drink containers, fishing gear and even a metal ladder.

Crews say this year was actually a lighter haul than previous years, but that people still need to do more to keep the Manistee River clean.
