Johnson Wins Race as UK Prime Minister
Britain has just found out who will be the country’s next Conservative Party Leader, and therefore Prime Minister.
The results of the vote among Conservative Party members were just announced, and former foreign secretary Boris Johnson has taken the win over current Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt.
Johnson has vowed to take the United Kingdom out of the European Union by Oct. 31—with or without a divorce deal in place.
But that promise has many people in the country concerned.
The UK’s official economic watchdog says leaving the EU with no deal is a bad move for Britain, one that would trigger a recession.
Johnson will officially take over as prime minister Wednesday, replacing Theresa May.
