Clare County Vietnam Veterans to be Commemorated for Service

Clare County Vietnam veterans are being recognized for their service.

The county’s veteran’s services office became partners with the USA Vietnam War Commemoration Program.

Veterans who served in Vietnam between Nov. 1955 and May 1975 can receive a presidential certificate as well as a pin to thank them for their service.

The Clare County veteran’s office was recently approved by the U.S, Department of Defense.

This national program began in 2012.

“I hope it gives them some validation that service was not in vain. It was not forgotten. It took a while for the rest of the country to come around to realize that these guys whether they’re drafted or volunteered, took on a very tough job,” said Karl Hauser, the director of the Clare County Veteran Services.

Clare County Vietnam veterans that haven’t already, can go to the veteran’s services office to be presented with their certificate and pin.
