“Brawl” in the Soo is a Family Friendly BBQ Event

Bordertown BBQ Brawl brings BBQ Lovers Who Bring Their Appetites

There was a brawl in Sault Ste. Marie on Saturday, but not the kind where punches were thrown.

The Second Annual Bordertown BBQ Brawl took place at Kewadin RV Park. Barbecue extraordinaires from Canada, Michigan and Wisconsin worked their magic battling for the top prize of over $1,500 and bragging rights.

The four categories include chicken, ribs, pork and brisket.

After the official judging, there’s also a People’s Choice Award.

Proceeds from the $5 taste tests go to the Relay for Life.

Organizer Linda Miller says the BBQ’ers are a unique group.

“People want to win, but I will tell you what, this BBQ family is a very close-knit family.  Do they share their recipes?   Absolutely not.  But you will never meet people that are closer than the BBQ family.”

Judging was held in secret.

So secret, in fact, that our camera wasn’t even allowed inside.
