Samaritas 4th Annual Backpack Drive

Starting a new school year can be exciting for some students, but for others it can be stressful.

Samaritas is holding its fourth annual statewide backpack drive to help send kids back to school confident and prepared.

Laura Green, administrator for Samaritas senior living in Williamsburg, said, “Everyone’s had that scary feeling on the first day of school; and this really makes you feel good when you know you’re prepared like everyone else sitting next to you, regardless of whatever’s going on in your life as a child.”

The organization is looking for donations to help pack the backpacks. Items in need include backpacks, pencils, pens, notebooks, erasers, binders, glue sticks, crayons, markers, tissue packets, and other essentials that help students succeed in school.

Packing parties will be held at Samaritas Senior Living facilities later this summer. Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:
