Fire Crews Battle Flames at Boyne Falls Apartment; Traffic Rerouted on US 131
Firefighters from several different departments battled an apartment fire in Boyne Falls.
The fire chief tells us a firefighter had to be treated for heat exhaustion, but he is OK.
Now they have the fire under control and are working to get out hot spots. The fire started just before 3:30 this afternoon.
When crews arrived on scene, everyone inside the building had already evacuated and there were no injuries.
The fire chief says in heat like today, they have to take extra precautions to ensure firefighters stay safe.
That’s part of the reason crews were on scene from five different municipalities.
The chief says the fire does not look suspicious, but they are still working to find out the cause.
Right now we know traffic is being rerouted off U.S. 131 and onto Old Mackinaw Trail because of this fire.
9 and 10’s Xavier Hershovitz is at the scene working to get more information.
We’ll have an update for you when that comes in.
