Baton Rouge Mourns Civil Rights Activist Sadie Roberts-Joseph
Police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana have arrested a man accused of killing a local civil rights activist.
Police announced the arrest of Ronn Bell Tuesday.
He’s now charged with killing Sadie Roberts-Joseph.
Police say Bell was a tenant in one of Roberts-Joseph’s homes and was behind on his rent.
Her body was found in the trunk of a car about three miles from her home Friday afternoon after concerned citizens called 911.
Roberts-Joseph was a civil-rights activist widely known for her charity work.
She was described as a “matriarch of Baton Rouge.”
In 2001 she founded the local Baton Rouge Black History Museum.
