Former Ogemaw Heights Teacher to Once Again Face Sex Crime Charges

A former Northern Michigan teacher will soon be back in front of a judge to once again face sex crimes charges.

Neal Erickson admitted to sex crimes against a student back in 2013.

It happened when he was a teacher in the Ogemaw Heights School District.

Erickson was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison.

But he’s now set to go back to court for the same charges.

The Ogemaw County prosecutor says an appellate attorney claims a judge did not tell Erickson he could face lifetime electronic monitoring during the case back in 2013.

As a result, Erickson was allowed to withdraw his plea.

He will now go back before a judge for a new arraignment at the end of this month.
