Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Pavilion Opens To the Public

Employees say it has been a long time coming.

A Northern Michigan community finally opened its new medical pavilion Sunday.

Kalkaska Memorial Health Center just unveiled its new 30,000-square-foot facility.

Sunday’s event was open to the public.

Everyone who came was able to take a tour of the new facility.

Voters approved the 10-year millage in 2010 to support the construction of the pavilion.

Physician’s services will be on the building’s first floor and education classrooms will be on the second.

There will also be a new main entrance to make it easier for patients to find their way through the facility.

Administrator director Laura Zingg said

“I’ve personally been here for 10 years, but a lot of our co-workers have been here 15, 20, 25, even 40 years and this is something that was truly just a vision. They absolutely thought this was never going to come true.”

Construction also included 104 parking spaces and plans to add chemotherapy by 2020.
